Teamwork in Action: How Residents Helped to Stop Fly Tipping

Good news for the residents of High Oswalds Flats - recent community action has led to significant progress in tackling the ongoing problem of fly tipping in the communal bin area.

For quite some time, the TRA, ourselves, and Fife Council have been working together to address the repeated dumping of unwanted household items. The issues caused frustration among residents and made it harder for people to use the bin area properly.

That began to change thanks to the quick thinking of one tenant, who managed to capture crucial evidence that allowed Fife Council's Environmental Enforcement Team to take swift action. The individual responsible was identified, interviewed, and issued with a £500 Fixed Penalty Notice - a clear message that fly tipping won't be tolerated.

This result shows the power of community involvement. When residents work together and stay vigilant, real and lasting improvements can happen.

Together, by staying aware and supporting each other, the community can help keep the environment clean and safe for everyone.

If you happen to spot somebody fly tipping, you can report it directly to Fife Council using this online form: www.fife.gov.uk/services/form-pages/report-illegal-dumping
