Over the past few months, FFOTRA has been attending more estate walkabouts across Fife, supporting Fife Council and helping to make sure tenants and residents’ views are heard.

Estate walkabouts bring together tenants, housing staff, local councillors, community groups, agencies and other services to look at neighbourhoods first-hand, identify issues and discuss where improvements or further action may be needed.

For FFOTRA, these walkabouts are also an important opportunity to introduce ourselves — not only to tenants and residents in areas where our Roadshows may not yet have reached, but also to Fife Council staff, local councillors, partner agencies and other organisations working within communities. We want people to know who FFOTRA are, what we do and how we can support tenants and residents.

We look forward to continuing to visit communities across Fife, helping to identify issues, support residents and ensure tenants have a voice in improving the places they call home.

We had another great evening at our Office Bearers Training Session, with a fantastic turnout from TRA members.

The evening included presentations from our staff, covering the roles and responsibilities of the Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Committee Member. Attendees also took part in interactive group tasks, giving them the opportunity to work together, share ideas and learn from other TRA members.

A big thank you to St Bryce Centre & Cafe for providing the lovely refreshments, and of course, a huge thank you to everyone who attended and made the evening such a success!

The Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) is a national organisation dedicated to supporting tenants, residents, landlords, and communities to work together effectively. TPAS provides training, advice, resources, and guidance to help residents have a stronger voice in housing services and decision-making. Through its work, TPAS promotes meaningful tenant engagement, helping to build stronger communities and improve housing services for everyone. 

A particular highlight of the conference was witnessing Cath Reilly, from one of our affiliated Tenant and Residents Associations (TRA), receive the Tenant of the Year Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to improving her community over the past 40 years. This was a well-

deserved achievement and a proud moment for all involved.

We’re excited to be hitting the road this year with our FFOTRA Roadshow, travelling across Fife to give local residents the chance to meet and speak with FFOTRA staff and Board Members first hand. Keep your eyes peeled for dates in your area.

Scotland’s Housing Festival 2026, organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), took place at Glasgow’s SEC Exhibition Centre on 3rd and 4th March 2026. The event was attended by Patricia Gray, FFOTRA Chairperson alongside Board Members, Tony Whinfield and Isabel Campbell, representing the tenants and residents of Fife Council.

FFOTRA members participated in a wide range of discussions and breakout sessions, each attending different sessions to maximise coverage and engagement. This approach allowed them to gather comprehensive and valuable insights into current and emerging housing issues. Their involvement ensured that key developments, policy discussions, and sector trends were effectively captured and understood, strengthening their ability to represent and inform all tenants and residents.

As we move through January, our Board meetings are well underway for the year ahead. These meetings bring together our staff, Board members, and representatives from the Fife Council Tenant Participation Team to reflect on recent activity at FFOTRA and look ahead to what's coming next. They're a valuable chance to share updates, exchange ideas, and reaffirm our ongoing commitment to supporting our TRAs.
